How will the postseason picture emerge?
In the National League, The Cubs and Mets will clinch their divisions well in advance of the final weekend of the season.
In the American League, The Royals will clinch their division well in advance of the the final weekend of the season.
The Angels will just beat out the Rangers for the AL West title. The Rangers will win the first Wild Card by a solid margin.
The Red Sox will just beat out the Orioles for the AL East title. The Orioles will win the second Wild Card by a solid margin over the Yankees.
The Padres will beat out the collapsing Dodgers and Giants for the NL West title.
The Pirates will surge and overtake the Giants, winning the first NL Wild Card.
The Giants will win the second Wild Card, holding off the Marlins, who will be the last team eliminated from postseason contention this year. They will be eliminated the Saturday before the final day of the regular season.
The National League Wild Card Game will feature the Giants at the Pirates. The Pirates will win. They have good karma. The Giants don’t.
The American League Wild Card Game will feature the Orioles at the Rangers. The Orioles will win.
In the NLDS, the Cubs will beat the Pirates in 5 games. The Mets will beat the Padres in 5 games.
In the ALDS, the Royals will beat the Red Sox in 4 games. The Orioles will sweep the Angels. The intelligentsia will scream “TRADE MIKE TROUT!” The Angels won’t. They’ll be good again in 2019.
In the NLCS, the Mets will beat the Cubs in 7 games. In the ALCS, the Orioles will beat the Royals in 5 games.
In the World Series, the Orioles will beat the Mets in 5 games.
